Boy Dies After Stabbing Himself In The Chest Thinking His Vest Was Knife-Proof To "Show Off"

A young man fatally stabbed himself when he plunged a blade through a vest that he thought was knife-proof, an inquest was told.

Jordan Easton died while apparently "showing off" to friends just five days after he celebrated his 22nd birthday.

The tragic incident happened in a friend's kitchen in Thornaby-on-Tees, North Yorkshire when he told his pals he was wearing a “stab-proof vest”.

Jordan grabbed a knife and tried to demonstrate that the blade wouldn't pierce his vest - but the blade went through and he stabbed himself in the chest.


An assistant coroner blamed his death on “the foolishness of youth”.

He died at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton following the incident on August 23, 2017.

A police investigation was launched, but no further action was taken.
